Our TPIAAA Member Organizations

TPIAAA is proud to unite a growing network of veterinary and animal welfare organizations across the Pacific Islands. Each of our members plays a vital role in advocating for the health, protection, and humane treatment of animals in their local communities. From desexing programs and veterinary services to education and policy advocacy, our members bring unique strengths and deep local knowledge. Together, we are working toward a more compassionate and coordinated approach to animal welfare throughout the region.

Our Members

Animals Fiji is a registered Fiji and U.S. 501(c)(3) charity with a focus on animal welfare. We ensure animal services and education are available to people throughout Fiji. We provide veterinary care for pets, livestock, and wildlife. Animals Fiji was established in 2011 and have been in operation for over ten years. There are four permanent clinics based in the Western and Northern Divisions of Fiji; in Nadi, Lautoka, Savusavu, and Labasa. In addition to the permanent locations, Animals Fiji performs outreach to communities in Fiji that lack access to veterinary and animal welfare services. The Nadi clinic also has a shelter which takes in stray, injured or abused animals, who are then treated and re-homed.

Kidi Oangoahng is an animal welfare not for profit organization incorporated in Pohnpei in 2022. The Kidi Oangoahng (Yellow Dog) mission is multi-faceted. Primarily our mission is to promote sustainable, humane animal control while at the same time educating the community about animal welfare. We aim to provide information about how to properly care for not only pets, but also to share best practices on the humane treatment of roaming domestic animals, farm animals and all wildlife, whether caged or uncaged.

KOO long-term goal is to spay and neuter enough of the dog and cat population so that the population will stabilize or begin to decrease. KOO aims to sponsor as many visits as possible to Pohnpei by veterinaries and ultimately to be able to support a full-time vet based in FSM.

The humane control of the animal population should have a positive impact on the transmission of disease between pets and humans through flea and tick bites. A controlled population of pets should mean that people can walk on roads and footpaths without the fear of attack by animals who are not under the effective control of their owners.

Our Vision is for Pohnpei to be a place where all animals are respected and treated with kindness and compassion

The Palau Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a non-profit corporation founded in 2000 by a small group of animal lovers to promote the health and well-being of domestic animals in Palau, thereby promoting the health of people and communities. Our vision is to provide successful population control by spay/neuter availability and education. This will have a direct positive effect on the public health issues and zoonotic disease transmission arising from Palau’s domestic animal population, following a ‘One Health’ approach, where healthier pets make healthier humans. In the past 3 years PAWS has sterilized over 2,000 dog and cats!

PAWS priority activities are:

  • Spay and neuter of dogs and cats

  • Pet care education (schools and communities)

  • Preventive vet care (deworming, vaccination, flea-tick control, general health maintenance, and owner education)

The SPCA Fiji Islands is a Registered Charitable Trust established in 1953 under the then Charitable Trusts Ordinance.

SPCA Fiji Islands is a 72-year-old non-profit organisation and, until recently, has been the sole source of veterinary care to the surrounding urban centres of Suva and beyond. Veterinary care is strongly focused on general health and well-being, and neutering. Within the last 10 – 15 years, there has been a growing interest and request for more in-depth veterinary care.

SPCA consists of a low-cost veterinary clinic (with two consult rooms, a treatment room and surgery), an animal shelter (temporary shelter for stray animals with aim of treatment, neuter and rehoming/adoption), rescue services for neglected or abused animals, and a veterinary outreach programme named CLAW (Communities Learning for Animal Welfare).

Registered nonprofit RMI Love Animals is supporting the Government of the Marshall Islands to deliver a humane animal population management solution that uplifts the health and well-being of animal and human communities, addresses public health and safety concerns about aggressive roaming animals, and teaches compassion and the respect of all living things.  The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) is a Micronesian atoll nation situated in the North Pacific and is considered one of the most remote inhabited Pacific Island countries. Located 7 degrees north of the equator, west of theinternational date line, and midway between Australia and Hawaii, RMI is facingan existential threat from sea level rise due to climate change.

RMI Love Animals’ sterilization and vaccinationprogram is funded by grants and in-kind donations and implemented by passionate volunteers, including visiting vet teams from Oahu-based Aloha Affordable Veterinary Service and Mission Aloha. Since 2022, thousands of individually and community owned roaming animals have been microchipped, sterilized and vaccinated in pop up M.A.S.H style surgery clinics, schools, church halls and basketball courts in Majuro and Kwajalein atolls, but there is much work ahead.  Community engagement, education and capacitybuilding are key to its program’s success and are instrumental in improving animal welfare.
