About our Alliance
Our Vision
We strive for a unified Pacific in which animals are treated with dignity and respect, supported by strong collaboration, legal reforms, and shared resources.
Together, we aim to improve animal welfare through advocacy, education, and sustainable practices, fostering healthier communities and ensuring a compassionate future for both animals and people.
Our Mission
TPIAAA acts as a united voice for animal health and welfare in the Pacific. We advocate for stronger veterinary services, humane population control, and sustainable policies that prioritise animal health, biosecurity and responsible pet ownership.
Through collaboration with governments, communities and regional organisations, we work to establish consistent legislation, regulations and protocols that uphold international standards for animal health and welfare.
We aim to ensure that all animals in the Pacific are treated with dignity and respect, fostering a future where animal welfare enhances public health, economic stability and environmental sustainability.
Our Values
Compassion:
We are dedicated to ensuring that all animals are treated with dignity and respect, fostering an environment where their needs are met and their health and well-being are prioritised.
Collaboration:
We believe in the power of working together – across communities, governments and local and international organisations to achieve meaningful and sustainable changes in the health and wellbeing of people and animals in the Pacific Islands.
Integrity:
We are committed to upholding high standards of honesty, transparency, and ethical behaviour, that respects the cultural diversity of Pacific Island Nations.
Sustainability:
We focus on creating lasting solutions for animal health and welfare by building local capacity and leveraging partnerships between Pacific Island nations to address shared challenges and promote independence in leading and managing their own animal health and management initiatives.
Respect:
We value cultural diversity and strive to ensure that all perspectives are respected while promoting a collaborative and inclusive approach in all our work.
Our Objectives
Advocate for Legal Reform:
Work towards establishing and strengthening animal welfare laws across the Pacific, ensuring legal frameworks that support humane treatment, animal health and effective animal population management.
Promote Humane Population Management:
Implement and support sustainable dog and cat population management programs throughout the region to address overpopulation, improve animal health, and mitigate risks to public health, other animals, and local ecosystems.
Expand Access to Veterinary Services:
Improve access to veterinary services for pets, livestock, and wildlife, incorporating evidence-based practices grounded in locally driven research to ensure effective and culturally appropriate care.
Foster Regional Collaboration:
Strengthen cooperation between veterinary and animal welfare organisations in the Pacific, sharing resources, knowledge, and expertise to collectively address regional challenges and promote mutual support.
Educate and Empower Communities:
Develop and deliver education programs that raise awareness of animal welfare and promote responsible pet ownership while empowering communities with the knowledge and resources they need to care for animals.
Strengthen Local Leadership:
Create a network for animal health and welfare groups in Pacific Island nations to build local capacity, address shared regional challenges, and ensure strong local governance in animal health and management activities.
